Tips To Decluttering Your Kitchen

If you are struggling to find extra space in your kitchen, then this blog post is for you.

Whether it be space for your groceries, crockery that you have inherited or simply to declutter the space in your kitchen, these tips will help you with all your kitchen space woes.

Tips to create more space in your kitchen

  • The Fridge

The fridge can easily become overcrowded. One quick way is to go through your fridge and discard or donate any food that you’re not going to eat. Once done, try to compartmentalise your fridge. Using containers to divide items such as sauces, jams and jellies from fruits or vegetables. Don’t forget to wipe down the shelves to keep them clear and germ-free.

  • Pantry

A common problem in most pantries is that we often forget what we have and what we don’t. This usually means buying a lot of the same thing! It’s all about creating a system, such as a board to write down what is needed on the next shop. It’s a good idea to be able to see everything as well, so try using clear containers to store items such as pasta, rice, flour and sugar. This will allow you to see how much you have left and when to buy more.

  • Crockery

If you have platters and bowls stacking up to the point where it starts to become a fine art of balance and strategy, it may be time to consider storing some of these items. Keep the pieces you use regularly in your kitchen and store the rest of them in a self storage unit so that when you do hold a family get-together again, they are at hand.

  • Cleaning

Cleaning products often get stuffed into the corner of a cupboard somewhere resulting in a similar problem as your pantry. Go through your detergents and sprays, and consider if you need to get more of them or not. Also consider using products which do a variety of cleaning, to keep the amount of items you need down.

Don’t let a cluttered kitchen distract you from cooking up a storm. Self storage is the perfect place to safely store your kitchen items that you don’t use regularly for when you need them again.
