Spring is slowly taking the place of winter and before we know it, summer will be on our doorsteps. There’s no better way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon than by relaxing in the garden and soaking up the pleasant weather.

Is your garden ready for summer days? Here are a few DIY tips to make your garden ready for the warmer weather.

Tidy up your flower beds and bushes

It’s not unusual for flower beds, bushes and lawns to be neglected during the winter months. With springtime introducing slightly warmer weather, it’s the perfect time to get out and give your garden some TLC. Prune your plants, get rid of weeds and tidy up the boundaries. Dust off the lawnmower and watch your garden transform.

Plant some new bulbs

Whether you have a green thumb or you want to see where your gardening skills can take you, now is a great time to plant new flowers that will bloom in summer. Think about the colour of the flower and how much maintenance it will require when you begin. Consider the English garden rose and peonies.

Declutter the patio

If you are lucky enough to have a patio, then you probably have several fond memories of sitting outside in the sun while the children play cricket on the grass. During winter, the patio can become a storage space for belongings that can withstand the elements. Declutter your patio to make sure that you have enough space to relax when summer arrives.

Treat garden furniture

Having a garden bench and coffee table promises many hours of reading a book outside, enjoying tea with your family and soaking up the natural surroundings. Make sure that you treat your furniture properly so that it is protected against a sudden downpour and the sun.

Have the barbeque ready

Have the barbeque on standby so that you can enjoy a sunny day out in the garden with the family and cook up a feast. The last thing that you want to do is find out that your barbeque is broken when the perfect day arrives!

If you want to enjoy the full space of your garden in the summer, then you may need to clear it of some clutter. There’s no need to throw these belongings out. Instead, you can store them in a safe and secure storage unit until you next need them. Contact us on 0800 0852 954 for more information about our convenient units available in a range of sizes.
