Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a manager for Storage King? Our "A Day In The Life" series tells the story of the men and women who help students, businesses and the general public with their self storage requirements. This week we chat to Jett Reid, Manager at Storage King in Worcester.
Before I leave for work, I start my day with a brisk walk. Living locally means I’m able to respond to any urgent customer queries within minutes – handy when you consider that I run a 24-hour store. On arriving at work, I walk around the store doing my checks and any cleaning before the clock officially starts. This means I have no concerns about the store’s security or tidiness as I start my office duties.
I always prepare for my day the evening before so I can manage all the phone calls, appointments, diary dates and daily tasks first thing in the morning.
My priorities are new enquires via our website or email and phone queries. I also respond to walk in customers enquiring about storage, our confidential shredding service or buying boxes from our packaging range. Other daily tasks include any maintenance jobs or visits, deliveries for clients and multiple aspects of managing a busy self storage facility.
A typical day consists of assisting a new enquiry from the initial conversation to a full booking and finding out about the new customer, fulfilling their needs with happy smiling faces at the end.
I am very passionate about what I do, and I believe I run a successful store ultimately by being the best I can be in respects of customer service and efficiency, along with hard work.
I have been in management for about nine years now, and while managing a self storage facility with hundreds of tenants has its challenges, I absolutely love my job.
Its easy to sell our service at Storage King as its so simple and easy to use that the product practically sells itself. We just add the human touch.
I like to end my day with a well-earned cuppa to celebrate another successful day’s trading.
