A Day In The Life Of A Storage King Manager David Francis

Storage King has aimed to help make storage simple for businesses and ordinary people since 2004.

We have an excellent team who make this possible, and our store managers are an integral part of enabling us to offer a flexible and easy to use service.

Our series "A Day In The Life" tells the story from the point of view of the men and women on the front lines every day.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a manager for Storage King? This week we chat to David Francis, manager at Storage King in Milton Keynes.

To ensure we offer the best customer service possible, the store I work at has an alternating shift pattern, meaning that one day I start early, the next late. This helps me to be on top of the day-to-day running of the branch.

On an early shift I enjoy the calm before my work day officially begins. I have my first walk around the property to check that the branch is how I left it the previous evening, before making a drink (lemon and ginger, with two sugars). I then make my way to my office to prepare for the start of the day.

My priorities are attending to enquiries that we may have received via our website or email, before moving on to any follow-up calls. When my colleague starts we have a catch-up, sharing updates on new enquiries and follow-ups, before I continue with the remainder of my daily tasks which generally include banking, deliveries for clients and other aspects of managing a self storage facility.

I love my job, and I run a tight ship doing the best I can by being efficient and well-organised. I started in the self storage industry nearly seven years ago when the business was run as Arrows Self Storage, and I’ve seen many positive changes since Storage King took over. One thing that has not changed is the high quality of the service that our customers receive. It is incredibly important to us that we never lose sight of this.

Customers often come to us to help them solve their problems when they find themselves in difficult, stressful situations, perhaps requiring storage space due to a divorce or break-up. We listen, lend a sympathetic ear and do our best to help them move on with their lives by making their stay with us easy as possible - it’s all part of the service! No two customers are the same, or have the same requirements, and helping them tailor a storage solution for their needs is what we do best, and is what helps to keep our jobs interesting.
