It’s been almost a year since many parts of the world entered some form of lockdown, forcing businesses to adapt if they wanted to succeed. One major change has been the rise in the number of people working from home.

There has been a lot of research about the pros and cons of working from home. For example, some of the pros for the worker include flexibility, fewer interruptions and more time with the family. In fact, nine out of 10 workers admit that they would like to continue working from home after lockdown.

However, these pros aren’t necessarily the same for business operations. We’d love to hear how working from home has affected your business? Send us a DM on Instagram!

The following three charities were featured in this week’s Local Business Spotlight, demonstrating how they work to overcome the challenges of the pandemic. See who we profiled below.

NCT North Bedfordshire

NCT North Bedfordshire is ready and waiting to welcome new parents to the life stage of parenthood. As you adjust to your new routine, NCT North Bedfordshire will help you forge friendships through local groups, activities and events that are run by volunteers.

Although the pandemic has changed how some of these activities are held, the team is still dedicated to delivering some in-person activities and classes online. Visit their Instagram page for tips, events and related news, and their website for more information on local activities and meet-ups.

Nottinghamshire Hospice

Wednesday’s Local Business Spotlight, Nottinghamshire Hospice, is committed to “adding life to days”. The compassionate team believes that everyone deserves to enjoy life to the fullest, no matter your age or health. That’s why they are dedicated to offering palliative and end-of-life care.

The team is made up of housekeepers, nurses, cooks and events organisers among others. Each role serves a very special purpose in helping individuals who are living their final days do so with respect and in a dignified manner. Find out more about the inspiring organisation on their Instagram page or their website.

Epsom and Ewell Food Bank

In 2020, Epsom and Ewell Food Bank provided 12,500 packs of three-day emergency food supplies to people in crisis. This incredible achievement was made possible by the generosity of the local community and the hard work of the team.

Friday’s Local Business Spotlight, Epsom and Ewell Food Bank, was first opened in 2012 and the team has been dedicated to making a difference ever since. Find out more about the great work being done by the charity on their Instagram page or website.
