AS the Christmas countdown continues, former stars of Coronation Street Lee Boardman and Jennifer James are showing their support for the Storage King Toy Appeal 2016.
Lee, who played Jez Quigley and Jennifer, who played barmaid Geena Gregory, know only too well the difference the toy appeal makes.
As patrons of the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT), which is the charity set to benefit from the toy collection, the couple have seen first-hand the difficult journey some children face.
Jennifer said: “We’re so proud of everything they continue to achieve for many very special children each year.
“Christmas should be magical for all children, but sadly this is not the case for many who are struggling with illnesses, disabilities and conditions at home that most of us couldn’t even comprehend.
“That’s why what we’re doing at CAFT is absolutely vital as we’re giving these children their childhoods back.”
New toys and gifts are required by the charity, which is based just outside of Lymm, to give out to toddlers and teenagers at parties.
Presents are already pouring in since the toy appeal launched on November 17 but more are needed.
Toys for 600 children are required to make this a day to remember.
Lee added: “We’re so touched to see the fabulous donations that are already pouring in – but we need more! So please help if you can.
“Together we can put smiles on the faces of some very special children this Christmastime.”
Generous donations can be dropped off at Toys R Us on the Gemini Retail Park.
The Warrington Guardian HQ on Cygnet Court on Centre Park, The Balloon & Gift Boutique on Horsemarket Street and Storage King on Colville Court, behind LA Bowl will also act as drop off points for any donations.
