Storage King is proud to announce that Sam Golding, the manager of Storage King Aylesford has taken Europe by storm at the Annual European Self Storage Awards held in Berlin on the 18th of October by winning the title of Manager of the Year.
The annual awards is run by FEDESSA (Federation of European Self Storage Associations) and is open to all members of the association, with awards for Manager of the Year, Facility of the Year, Extraordinary Achievement of the Year and Charity Initiative of the Year.
Storage King has quite a history of success at the Awards having won Charity Initiative of the Year for our partnership with Rays of Sunshine in 2015 in Stockholm, whilst at the same time our Gloucester Manager Jose Suarez received the Highly Commended Award for Manager of the Year.
In 2016 Storage King was once again short listed for the same two categories. On this occasion we beat off tough competition from some of the major competitors to take the title of Manager of the Year with Richard Locke from our Derby store scooping the title.
2017 witnessed 5 managers from across Europe vying for the prestigious title. One of whom was also called Sam and who also works for Storage King, in this case it was Sam from the West Bromwich store run by our franchisee owner Sarah Hopkins.
Ordinarily there is just one winner in this category but once in a while when the competition is particularly close FEDESSA also hands out a Highly Commended award (as in 2015 with Jose) and 2017 proved to be one of those years.
Sam from West Bromwich took the Highly Commended award, a great achievement for someone with just over 1 years’ experience in the market.
However Sam at Aylesford proved to be triumphant and was announced the European Store Manager of the Year to a roar and flag wave from the Storage King table.
