Storage King helps children's wishes come true!

Storage King is delighted to announce that as well as providing high-quality self storage facilities, we also raised over £11,000 for children’s charity, Rays of Sunshine, in 2017.

Since 2003, the Rays of Sunshine Charity has been brightening the lives of children, aged 3-18, who are living with serious or life-limiting illnesses in the UK. The charity takes children’s wishes and makes them a reality; bringing them hope and happiness during difficult times.

Whether a child wants to be a princess or a fireman for the day, go to Disneyland, visit Santa in Lapland, own an iPad or meet their favourite pop star, Rays of Sunshine work hard to make their wishes come true.

Rays of Sunshine also grants ward wishes. These wishes offer a distraction to hundreds of children during their time in hospital or a hospice. Events and outings are held throughout the year for large groups of seriously ill children, including: trips to theme parks, hospital activities/pamper days, parties and The Rays of Sunshine Concert at The Royal Albert Hall.

We have been working with the charity since 2015 and continue to support and be inspired by the work that they do. Every time we have a new customer move into our secure storage, we donate £1 to the charity. We also raise money by fundraising in-stores; encouraging customers to donate their refund deposit, and by holding events throughout the year. Our staff have even run half-marathons for the cause!

In 2017, we raised a total of £11,241.07, granting the wishes of four children in need. Our money sent a little girl who wished to meet her favourite Disney characters to Disney World, Florida. Another little boy spent the night on a Port Lympne safari, where he fed rhinos and giraffes. Lapland UK hosted a VIP experience for another child, and one little boy got to visit Lapland in Finland to meet the real Santa, and ride with huskies!

Storage King is thrilled to have raised so much money for such a special, worthy charity, and we will continue to support the amazing work they do in 2018. We hope to raise even more money in the coming year and help more children’s wishes come true.
