Storage King has been helping businesses and ordinary people with their self storage needs since 2004. The company, which is led by CEO Robin Greenwood, has an excellent team dedicated to simplifying self storage through convenience and good service with a Trust pilot score of 9.5 out of 10.
Robin has been in the self storage industry for an astounding 28 years. He first began at Access Self Storage as Sales and Marketing Director, then Shurgard Self Storage as Vice President of Operations, before joining Storage King as CEO where he has been leading the company with passion for almost 9 years.
Comments Robin, ‘’At Storage King, every single employee and customer matters. If you were to ask me what stands out most about Storage King, I would have to say it is the level of service and commitment that I see in each and every member of the team, throughout all our stores. Evidence of this can be seen in the many awards we have won over recent years, awards which recognise and reward excellent customer service and going the extra mile for our customers.’’
When it comes to growing the business, Robin has always had big plans. “The chance to grow the business, by increasing occupancy and the number of stores in our portfolio, drives me on a daily basis. Ultimately, the vision is to reach a store count of 50 stores in the Storage King Portfolio in the next few years”.
Robin believes that this goal can be achieved by focusing on the customer as the number one priority and doing all you do with passion, and the teams that he leads are as passionate about the industry as he is.
There are very few people who know the self storage industry as well as Robin. He has served two stints as Treasurer for the UK Self-Storage Association, only stopping after he reached his six-year limit. He believes that the association brings both large and small operators together, providing the opportunity to exchange views and opinions, thereby keeping the industry self-regulated.
This was particularly important during the introduction of VAT, which added a challenge to the UK self storage market. In addition, the lack of available and affordable land for development has added some strain to the industry, but Storage King has many plans to counter these challenges and continues to grow from strength to strength.
The last year has been an exciting one for Storage King, with the recent acquisition by South Africa’s leading self storage company Stor-Age. Robin became well-acquainted with the owners of Stor-Age over the past decade and when the opportunity arose for a partnership in the form of Stor-Age acquiring Storage King, it was an opportunity that could not be ignored. The deal has allowed a platform to take the Storage King business to the next level in terms of growing the portfolio, adding technology into the business and making operations even more efficient. This of course means that the Storage King customer experience has also reached new heights.
Adds Robin, “Having been acquainted with the founders of Stor-Age over the past 10 years, I was excited at the prospect of growing the business with them, as I know that they share the same vision and passion for growth as the entire team does here at Storage King”.
In his spare time, Robin loves to travel and experience the unique qualities and the history of each location. He also enjoys indulging in the joys of cricket, rugby and football much to his wife and daughters frustration.
