Our planet is facing a plastic crisis. It’s estimated that over 300 million tons of plastic is produced every year, half of which is used in single-use packaging. With this number only rising, local businessman Stephen Griffiths knew he had to do something, and fast. Today, his eco-friendly online store, OccaStore Limited is putting the planet first and leading the way to a greener future.
While the world continues to advance, the same can't be said about our packaging. Most of the goods we buy are still made with single-use plastic, making it incredibly difficult to shop sustainably. As a keen environmentalist, Stephen began sourcing eco-friendly alternatives to everyday products and soon enough OccaStore Limited was born. “OccaStore Limited offers great occasion-based products but with an environmentally focused manufacturing process,“ Stephen says. “We protect the environment and benefit the communities where we source our products from.”
From bamboo toothbrushes and natural bread proofing baskets to reusable make-up remover pads and straws, OccaStore Limited offers consumers a wide range of eco-friendly alternatives. The team are determined to reduce society’s ecological footprint and go to great lengths to ensure their products are as kind to the planet as possible. “We source products that avoid plastic in their packaging, from suppliers who have the same values as us,” Stephen says.
Although stigmas around reusable products still persist, the demand for eco-friendly products has seen a drastic increase in recent years as people become more aware of their purchasing habits. In order to keep up with the demand, Stephen makes use of Storage King’s spacious and affordable self storage units as an operational base. “The staff at Warrington are also a great help and take deliveries and collections for me when I am not there,” Stephen says.
