Epic adventures in and around Epsom

Posted: 10 August 2021

EPSOM

The charming town of Epsom is renowned for its horse racing heritage. While people still flock here from around the world to watch these majestic beasts in action, it’s not the only attraction Epsom has to offer.

Here are a few epic adventures in and around Epsom for your next family day out:

1. Epsom playhouse

If you consider yourself a thespian or simply a lover of the arts, then Epsom Playhouse should be at the top of your list. The 406-seater theatre first opened its doors in 1984 and has played host to hundreds of local and international productions since. Get a bite to eat at the in-house bistro and enjoy one of their drama, comedy, opera or jazz evenings.

2. Rosebery Park

Situated in the heart of Epsom, Rosebery Park brims with idyllic picnic spots. The park also features a large pond home to a flock of resident ducks and a playground for the kids. Pack a picnic and relax beside the water, play a game of footy or take your dog for a stroll down one of the many scenic paths.

3. Hobbledown

Hobbledown is the perfect place for a family day out. The whimsical park has a wide range of exciting activities for the kids including jumping pillows, underground tunnels and a high-up ropes course, with ample safety measures of course. From lemurs to lamas, Hobbledown is also home to a menagerie of animals as well as London’s largest rapture centre!

4. Nonsuch Park

Nonsuch Park is a spacious green oasis buzzing with birds, bees and beautiful flowers. The park also features the ruins of King Henry VIII's palace which was established in the early 16th century. Mosey through the tranquil gardens and stop off at the cafe for some tea and cake.

5. Hampton Court Palace

While Nonsuch palace was a grand spectacle in its day, Hampton Court Palace is undoubtedly Henry VIII's most famous residence. The palace showcases the elegant and lavish style of Tudor and Baroque architecture and is the epitome of opulence. Get lost in the ground’s intricate maze, explore the infamous Haunted Gallery or simply stroll through the palace and soak up its splendour.
