Storage King Self Storage are proud to announce that Richard Locke, the manager of Storage King Derby located in the West Meadows Industrial Estate has taken Europe by storm at the Annual European Self Storage Awards held in Barcelona on the 5th and 6th of October.
The annual awards is run by the UK Self Storage Association in conjunction with FEDESSA (Federation of European Self Storage Associations) are is open to all members of the association, with awards for Manager of the Year, Facility of the Year, Business Initiative of the Year and finally Charity Initiative of the Year.
Having won Charity Initiative of the year in 2015 and runner up for manager of the year, Storage King had high hopes for the 2016 awards.
Richard beat off competition from over 1,500 other self storage stores in Europe to take home top prize of European Manager of the Year. As a thank you for all his hard work Richard was flown out to the awards and was present in Barcelona to collect his accolade in person.
Richard was appointed Manager of the Derby store in 2007 and since then he has continued to work hard every day, the Derby store results have been fantastic this year despite some strong competition from other self storage operators in the area.
As well as helping local residents and businesses with their self storage needs, Richard has also been pivotal in promoting the confidential document shredding service which Storage King offers. Most people use storage during a time of need, be that moving house, renovating, starting up or expanding a business. The service offered at the Derby store by Richard and his team of Mark Treece and Pam Dean is second to none and it was this which allowed Richard the final push over the finish line to beat off strong competition from Spain and Germany.
