Rugby is one of the UK’s fastest-growing female sports, with the number of woman and girl players having doubled over the past four years. As interest in the sport has grown, clubs across the country have started to attract sponsorship deals from large national companies.
The Gloucester-Hartpury Women’s Rugby Football Club this week signed a sponsorship deal for their 2018/2019 season with one of the UK’s leading self storage companies, Storage King.
In what is the first-ever headline sponsorship deal for Gloucester-Hartpury, the opportunity will provide a platform for the team to grow even further and continue producing exceptional players. It was announced this week that six Gloucester-Hartpury’s players have been named in England’s training squad, news which has fuelled confidence in the blossoming club.
Susie Appleby, Head Coach of Gloucester-Hartpury WRFC, said, ‘’The Gloucester-Hartpury WRFC is really excited with our new relationship with Storage King. Not only is Storage King a forward-thinking company, but they are genuinely interested in being involved in the women’s game and helping it grow. Storage King has grown rapidly over recent years, much like Gloucester-Hartpury WRFC, and we believe that together we will make the team go from strength to strength.’’
Robin Greenwood, CEO of Storage King, adds: “We are excited to be involved in sporting development that is inclusive and diverse. Rugby is a game which unites the whole community, and it is wonderful to see Gloucester-Hartpury fans make their way to the games weekend after weekend. One of our company’s goals is to make a difference in the various communities which we are a part of, so we are excited to be entering into a partnership with such a passionate and community-focused organisation as the Gloucester-Hartpury Women’s Rugby Football Club.’’
The sponsorship deal will provide administrative and financial support, offering an opportunity for Gloucester-Hartpury to focus on growing not only their own club, but women’s rugby in general. Club fans and their families will also benefit from the sponsorship, through fun and engaging activations on match days.
“We believe in bringing people together, inspiring change and making a difference in people's lives. This is something we see in the Gloucester-Hartpury team and management, and we are excited about growing the partnership and look forward to seeing how the sport flourishes with further financial assistance from companies across the United Kingdom,” added Greenwood.
