On Saturday 9 June, the residents of the greater Woodley, Reading and Wokingham area descended upon the Woodley Memorial Field for the highly anticipated 58th Woodley Community Carnival.

A highlight on the summer calendar, the Woodley Community Carnival is a fundraiser for local charities where the community comes together for a day of festivities and fun and to give back to various organisations that are making a positive impact in the area. The event was a resounding success, with the Memorial Field packed with families who arrived to enjoy the various activities in the summer sunshine.

Storage King was a proud main sponsor of the event, raising much-needed funds for the Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity. Storage King hosted a rock painting stand in support of local community group, Woodley Rocks. All proceeds from the stand went to Rays of Sunshine.

Storage King also sponsored a £200 prize for the winning float, a main focus of the carnival which was won by Woodley Church of England School for their ‘Women Heroes’ float. The procession of floats made its way through the streets of Woodley, before finishing for voting in the middle of the Carnival. The theme of the floats this year was ‘Heroes and Villains’.

Having assisted Rays of Sunshine for many years, we were pleased to be able to once again raise funds for this very special organisation. The carnival organisers did a fantastic job, and we look forward to next year’s event.’’

Apart from enjoying the various activities, stands and entertainment, Festival-goers met ‘Tall Will, the world’s tallest Bubbleologist who kept the children entertained with an incredible bubble show. They experienced the magic of giant bubbles, tiny bubbles, bubble sculptures, smoke bubbles, fire bubbles, bubbles with his bare hands and more.
